Chateau du Vin
2011
Nice and easy trip. The chateau wasn't really special (lot of trash and staging) but we had nice company and it was another location which we could cross of our to-do list :]
History:
This place used to be a very popular motor crossing area, but the neighbors started to complain and the race track was closed. The new owner made the territory into a vineyard and started a restaurant. The place was very popular (one of the biggest vineyards in Belgium) but got bankrupt because the owner bought to many (and to expensive) vine plants of which he could only make a profit after 5 years.
Now the restaurant is abandoned, waiting for new owners. Somebody is still taking care of the vine plants to make the territory more attracting for new owners.
